MY MISSION
STATEMENt and Goals
This reflects my personal philosophy and the freedom I have through my independent practice. As Counsel I aim to give the best and most personal, informed service I can, always keeping in a close working relationship with my clients, while being easy with making decisions on their behalf. I avoid unnecessary expense, and something I have seen too often- making simple cases complicated to run up costs. I will not take points in disputes (jurisdiction and governing law are two frequent examples in international arbitration) if the argument has little real impact on the likely outcome. I present cases personally as I will know your case best – unless you need one, I do not normally hire barristers. I normally believe in my client’s cases, and for that reason am willing to work on a no win no fee type arrangement, if possible. To practice cost-efficient innovative law, and always be more agile than the lumbering firms of expensive corporate lawyers I face. It is one thing to have a domestic lawyer doing your international case for you, it is quite different having an international lawyer doing your case. I may well know from experience what to expect from lawyers of different cultures, and different international dispute situations under different rules – this will be to your advantage. As Arbitrator Drawing on my love of the law, travel and different cultures, to reach unbiased and informed decisions, on a timetable that conforms to the interests of the case. I teach my children that Knutsons are not dishonest, and I practice
what I teach. |
