My Rates

When I am acting as Counsel, advisor, arbitrator/adjudicator or mediator, my rates are those agreed with you or an institution on your behalf. These are subject to adjustment at my discretion on every New Year.

Success based fees may be used where it is permissible to do so, and the matter seems appropriate for such a fee structure. These are normally based on a lump sum or hourly element plus a percentage element. The fees are payable whenever it results in a payment to you, however that payment comes about.

I set my rates based on the complexity of the dispute, its value and the other factors established by the Law Society of England and Wales. Typically, I will seek to earn about £300 or Euros 450 per hour for my Hong Kong based company, RK Ideas Hong Kong Limited. I can and do agree higher or lower fees on a discretionary basis – for example where the matter is for a relatively small value or your ability to pay is compromised. My assistants doing legal work normally cost about £100 per hour. Paralegal (non-secretarial) documentary work is charged at around £65 per hour.

Requests for pro bono work will always be considered, especially where it involves teaching law, aiding in development (anywhere in the world), the use of renewable energy resources or other meritorious causes.
